A 7-MINUTE FICTIONAL DOCUMENTARY: A CALL

This film is a fictional documentary. I play the role of the older sister, whose life was shaped by the suffocating environment of the family of origin. Constrained by my parents’ overbearing control, I suddenly marries and moves to the Netherlands, losing contact with the family. Five years later, I calls her younger sister to learn about what has been happening at home. This phone call, coming from my homeland, sparks a poignant exploration of the suffocating pressures imposed by East Asian parents on their children, and the lingering emotional impact of such upbringing.
